Llandysul New Year's Eve Run with 10km and 5km options. No better way to end the year on a high. The 5km route is a fast and flat route. 10km route is a stunning and challenging course. Both routes are on open country roads.

The 5km run 

(Minimum participation age is 11 years old and all under 13's must be accompanied by an adult all along the course as the route is open country roads). The 5km route is totally flat and is ideal for beginners or anyone looking to post a fast time. The 5km route starts with 1 complete lap of Llandysul Memorial Park, turning right out of the park and heads past the Porth Hotel along the Teifi river towards Aber Cerdin Mill House before turning back at Coed y Foel.

Registration

Opens at 9am and closes at 10:00am

Registration will be at Llandysul Paddlers (address is Wilkes Head Square, Pontwelly, Llandysul SA44 4AA). 

To save queues we are splitting registration this year. 

Runners who have pre-registered online - will need to pick up their race numbers from the hanger at the Paddlers (building to the left of registration office). Please bring your own safety pins. 

Runners registering on-day will be allowed but we encourage as many people to sign up prior to the event to ensure they are on the timing system in order to get a race time. To register on the day you need to go to the Paddlers Office to complete registration forms and pay race fees, you will then be given your race number in the office. If you decide to sign-up on the day please arrive at the beginning of registration 9am as there may be queues, so we can process you in time. Please see tickets below for more details.

Walk to start 

Once registered it is a short 5-8 min walk (which will be signposted) from Llandysul Paddlers over to the start of the race which is at Llandysul Memorial Park by the tennis courts.

Post-run refreshments and awards in the Porth Hotel

Following the run all runners will be welcomed back to the Porth Hotel where hot cawl awaits, overall and age group awards and maybe a cheeky drink to see the new year in with a bang.

Parking

2 main car parks 

Llandysul Paddlers Car Park - this is our main race day car park and is free. You will be directed to park around the back of the Paddlers by the lake, driving up the side of the fire station off Pencader rd). No parking will be allowed in the front car park at the paddlers. 

Llandysul Memorial Park Car Park - this is now a pay and display car park. This is nearer to race start but you will need to walk down to the Paddlers to register.

10km = £15 + booking fee

Junior entry (U16 years) £5+ booking fee

Tickets on-day 

Payment is available on the day, cash or card via the online entry system. Race Entry Fee on day is £20 for 5km & 10km and Juniors £10 (booking fee applies to all card payments). Please turn-up earlier if signing up on the day to complete forms and to give our race volunteers time to enter your name onto our timing system.

Bag Drop

We will provide a basic bag drop at the race start. Usually entails a vehicle which will be right next to the race start, ideal if you want t drop of a jacket prior to start of race. We will not have bag tags and Items are left at owner’s own risk. 

Water

There will be a water station half-way round and water at the finish line. Biodegradable cups will be used at the half-way station and at the finish.

First Aid

We will have numerous first aiders around the course. If you are unwell, ask the nearest marshal to summon them. 

Headphones

Headphones must not be worn as the route is open country lanes. Anyone wearing headphones will be disqualified. Bone conducting headphones are permitted but please make sure you can hear marshals' instructions, cars, bicycle bells, etc.

Dogs

Dogs are not permitted to run with participants.

Buggies

Buggies are not permitted due to number of participants, on open country roads and tight turn on course.

Cut-off Times

There is no formal cut-off time, as a guide most runners complete the routes in around an hour and a half, followed by the tail runner. We encourage runners of all levels who are doing their best, but for the sake of the marshals, please don't dawdle deliberately - e.g. stopping to chat or take photos.

Awards

Podium prizes, Age-Group prizes to take place around 12.30pm in the Porth Hotel.
